FAST & HEALTHY PLACES TO EAT IN NYC

If you are traveling to New York City and you have a lot to see and do while you are visiting, you might not necessarily have time to stop and sit down to eat for an hour or two at a restaurant. And while there is always the hotdog and pretzel stand, McDonalds, or hallal cart on every corner, there are other options that are not only fast and cheap, but also much healthier. Here are a couple of options that you can eat at that won’t break the bank or encroach on your precious time soaking up all Manhattan has to offer!

Bluestone Lane

Bluestone Lane is personally one of my favorite places to go for a quick bite to eat. They have multiple locations around the city that offer delicious coffee as well as healthy bites. My go-to is the avocado toast or the banana bread. If you are visiting and walking the museum mile to visit the Guggenheim, the Met, or the Frick, Bluestone Lane has a location smack dab in the middle of it all.

Whole Foods

Another establishment that has multiple locations is Whole Foods. Widely known as a healthy grocery store filled with organic options, Whole Foods also has a salad bar with a wide variety of foods as well as seating if you would like to sit and eat your food inside.

Sweetgreen

There are many salad places in the city, but Sweetgreen is my favorite for locally sourced, fresh ingredients. There are staple salads that the restaurant has year round, as well as seasonal salads. Like the aforementioned Bluestone Lane and Whole Foods, Sweetgreen also has multiple locations so if you are traveling around the city, there is a good chance you will be by a Sweetgreen. Just be mindful that not every Sweetgreen has seating.

Honeybrains

Honeybrains has multiple locations and has a menu of toasts, bowls, salads, and sandwiches. Each item is made from sustainably farmed ingredients and the menu notes whether it is made up of legumes, omega-3s, fruits, vegetables, and/or grains.

Dig Inn (also known as Dig)

Dig Inn has multiple locations around the city, and allows you to fill up on a protein, a base of grains or greens, and two sides. Everything is noted as gluten free, dairy free, or vegan. The menu changes each season so you have access to the freshest ingredients available. Note that there is no seating and during the weekdays, it is packed during lunchtime. Consider going during off-peak hours (like 11am or 2pm.)

Beatnic

As a highly lactose intolerant person, I love Beatnic because everything on the menu is very detailed and properly labeled. Specifically, menu items are labeled as to whether they include soy, gluten, pecans, and more. Additionally, all items are meat, dairy, and egg free. You can choose to sit at Beatnic, or take your food to go.

While there are a TON of restaurants in New York, these are just a few that are extremely healthy, quick, and easily accessible if the number of restaurants on every block becomes overwhelming. Bon appétit!
